Starting systems

Start Boost System

Goal :

  •  To boost & power the battery during the engine starting phase

Benefits :

  • improve and supply high power energy even at low temperature
  • Optimize and manage the energy transfers between super capacitors (SCAP) & battery
  • Global mass improvement & starting performances

 Architecture

Bidirectional DC-DC converter allowing 2 modes :

  • buck mode (SCAP charging)
  • boost mode (energy delivery)

PCM Power Current Crontroler

Goal :

  •  To control the transient starting torque (provided by the DC machine to the engine)

Benefits :

  •  Provides and attenuate softer starting torque

  • Accurate control of the peak torque provided by the starter

  • Limits transient under-voltage on H/C dc bus

 Architecture

The PCC is energized at power-on, at DCEMB contactor closure:

  • buck mode (SCAP charging)
  • boost mode (energy delivery)
